The artwork commissioned by MAPA to specially commemorate the 20th Anniversary of this significant event, was painted by our own program artist (and aviation specialist artist) Noel Barnes. It reflects on the 15 men from SAS Regiment and the 3 from 5 Aviation Regiment that lost their lives but importantly is the first work to also remember those who survived this accident. There are 100 prints only with each survivor being gifted their own.
Purchases of the print go directly to supporting the SAS Association WA Branch and MAPA for the benefit of our veterans. Postage is payable at checkout.

Blackhawk Accident 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Print

AU$250.00Price
  • The idea for this amazing original artwork was conceived in November last year by Founder Leza Howie in consultation with some of the Blackhawk survivors and and with the very amazing aviation artist Noel Barnes the project to create a commemorative piece began. Noel painstakingly ensured accuracy with every detail, from the aircraft, the location of the activity from that day, to the replication of uniforms. The beautiful original artwork painted in oil on canvas took almost 5 weeks and respectfully commemorates both the men who were killed in the clouds and the few who survived that day in the aircraft.

At a special presentation ceremony last month to the Special Air Service Regiment SASR, MAPA handed over the original artwork along with the Number 1 Limited Edition Blackhawk Accident 20th Anniversary Vase, both now part of their collection.

Shortly 5 Aviation Regiment will also receive their Special Edition Number 5 reproduction print of the Artwork containing signatures of survivors, along with the Number 5 Limited Edition Blackhawk Accident 20th Anniversary Vase.

We are extremely proud to have been part of this significant event through the dedication of this vary rare and original artwork and we thank those involved in the process.
